Replacing a Broken Microphone Cable or Connector
Signs of a cable or connector problem
- Sound crackles or cuts out when the performer moves or the cable is wiggled
- Sound works only when the plug is held at an angle
- Visible kinks, cuts or exposed wire, especially near the plug or the capsule
Test first: plug the mic into a different bodypack you know works. If the problem follows the mic, it's the mic or its cable.
Bodymics and Stage Gear mics
Bodymics cables are part of the microphone. Don't cut or re-solder them yourself; that voids coverage.
- Under 1 year old: submit a warranty claim. Damage from pulling, misuse or wear isn't covered.
- 2–5 years old: use Flat-Rate Service.
- Need a replacement now? Order a new Bodymic wired for your transmitter. See Choosing the right connector.
Replacement for another brand's mic
If the original lavalier or headset from your wireless system is broken, a Bodymic wired for your transmitter can replace it. Tell us your transmitter's exact brand and model and we'll confirm the right version. We can't confirm a fit from the brand name alone.
Instrument and XLR cables
Stage Gear sells audio cables. Tell us the connector on each end and the length you need.
