Wireless Mic Has No Sound
Work through these in order. Most "no sound" problems are solved in the first five steps. These are safe checks; don't open any equipment.
At the transmitter (bodypack)
- Is it turned on, and is the mute switch off?
- Put in fresh or fully charged batteries.
- Is the mic fully plugged in and locked? (TA4F: push until the latch clicks. 3.5 mm: screw the collar down.)
At the receiver
- Is the receiver powered on?
- Does the receiver show an RF signal from the transmitter? If not, check both are on the same frequency (or re-sync them).
- Does the receiver's audio meter move when the performer talks? If RF shows but no audio, try a different mic on the same pack.
At the mixer
- Is the receiver connected to the right mixer input, and is that channel's fader up, unmuted and assigned to the main output?
- Is the receiver output level (mic/line) set to match the mixer input?
- Do other mics through the same mixer work? If none do, the problem is the mixer, amp or speakers, not the wireless.
Narrow it down
Swap one part at a time: the mic onto a pack you know works, then the pack onto another receiver channel. The problem follows the faulty part.
Still no sound? Note what you tried and contact us. See Troubleshooting before requesting repair. If it's a rental, contact Broadway Media (see rental equipment not working).
Show tonight? Use your spare mic and pack, then troubleshoot after the performance. See Equipment problem right before a show.
