Connecting a Computer to Your Projector
Basic connection
- Connect the computer's video output to the projector's input. Most setups use HDMI. Many laptops need an adapter (for example USB-C to HDMI).
- Turn on the projector and select the matching input/source (for example HDMI1).
- On the computer, turn on the external display:
- Windows: press Windows + P and choose Extend (or Duplicate for a simple mirror).
- Mac: System Settings → Displays; choose the projector and set it to extend or mirror.
- Set the computer's output resolution to match the projector's native resolution when possible.
For show playback
- Use Extend, not mirror, so your audience sees only the show output, not your desktop or cue list.
- Turn off notifications, screen savers, sleep and automatic updates on the show computer.
- Plug the laptop into power during the show.
- Use playback software that outputs full-screen to the projector display.
Long cable runs
Standard HDMI cables are unreliable over long distances (such as booth to stage). Use the extension method designed for your system (for example HDBaseT or an active cable). Ask us if you aren't sure what you have.
